Christine Buttner We are very lucky to introduce a new tutor to OSP. Christine has a wealth of experience in design in the film industry and is going to bring that knowledge to our Composition course. Here is a potted history: I am passionate about image making in its very broadest sense of the word and with a career that began at the BBC in the graphic design department I have been able to explore the discipline thoroughly, working on location and studio shoots, with animators, model makers, composers and all the usual personnel involved in creating television, designing and creating opening title sequences. Over the 12 years I was there I worked on numerous projects including the dramas Our Friends in the North, Wives and Daughters, Hamish Macbeth, Our Mutual Friend, Charles 11, Doctor Zhivago and the yet to be broadcast The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall. Documentaries include The Sleep Clinic, The Ship, The Doctor, Children’s Hospital, Fraud Squad, Elizabeth R and the Cruise. Others; The Story of Tracy Beaker, Holiday, Mad About Music, the Proms and I produced and directed films for two series of The Art for BBC schools. I also ran the film and animation course within the school of graphic design at Kingston University and more recently was invited to be the external assessor for their new TV and Film design and Production BA course. I have been free lance for 10 years continuing to work as a designer but also expanding my teaching experiences. I have lectured at several media events including BAFTA and the Media Show and have spoken to groups as diverse as sixth form groups, the WI and primary school children. Awards include BAFTA nomination for Cambridge Spies, several BDA awards, several Royal Television Society nominations and Kodak Young Photographer of the year. I have also sat on various juries including BAFTA, D & AD, Royal Television Society and the British Animation Awards. |
