Intermediate Photography (previously called Practical)

"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera" Dorethea Lange

I have extended this course to 6 weeks in response to students requests and re-set the objective which is to help students who already understand how their camera works to become better photographers with a greater understanding of the thought processes involved with making serious images. As well as practical sessions during class there will be a requirement to undertake assignments between classes and an encouragement to further personal study.

This is a course where we aim to extend our students awareness of photography and push them a little harder, it is for those who consider themselves serious about their interest in photography.

You will have already completed our Understanding Your DSLR course and would like to understand processes by which you can improve your photography and tune your eye. It is a course that involves the student in making photographs rather than technical lectured based teaching. Each week there will be some practical camera work and projects set for completion before the next class. This work produced will be the basis for discussion and evaluation by the class leading each student to a better understanding as to how to create interesting beautiful images that have meaning and impact. An on line site will be created specifically for this course and students will up load their images for group review,

New dates in September for Autumn term 6 sessions £90

"The practical tasks you set us during the lesson and for homework greatly improved the way I took photos and the extended the range of subjects that I would normally take photos of. Being able to see other people's work and getting feedback from you and fellow photographers was a constructive way of developing my eye as a photographer. And finally, the course provided me with a reason and most importantly the confidence to approach an organisation and offer them my services as a photographer. Without that I don't think I would've ever considered showing a total stranger some of my work and expect them to give me a job just based on that. So thank you Keith for a most inspirational course."
